Fifth day in Lapland: mission accomplished

Today is my last day here, I have to make the most out of it! And of course, also at night! I am starting to feel a little sad because it's my last day here...

I already feel familiar enough with my new tool, the GPS, with my pal from the land of snow! 🗺! It tells me I am walking on a lake, I hope the ice crust is thick enough 😰

So I want to walk as far as possible into the park...  I meet on the way some people skiing who ask me what I am doing out there without skis 😂😂

I am done with avoiding terrains because I do not know how deep the snow is, finally I decide to let my "inner child" get out and walk into the snow no matter how deep it is, I miss my nephews so much! ❤

Rising my level of intrepidness... 😜 I keep exploring the park out of the marked zone... Luckily, some snowmobiles passed by leaving a trail in the snow, because I was already considering to go back...

Surrealistic moment 😵 From a wooden hut by the shore of the lake, which looks abandoned, two girls come out wearing bikinis, they run shouting very loud and get into a hole practiced in the ice crust of the lake, for a quick dip! I am not sure who is freaking out the most: myself while watching them, or they, when looking at me with eyes wide open and a super warm suit. It was so funny! 😆

Someone, I swear I don't know who😬, tried to follow the track of an animal and sunk at least one meter in the snow... how naive😛

Passion outburst in the lake... I ❤Lapland

Saying goodbye to the lake. There is no time to return here again... The sun is shining!    I am so happy! 😀😀😀

Preparing my third and last night of possible aurora sighting: 3 pairs of wool socks and a pair of boots "Made in Sweden" that weighed more than me 😱

My legs will be wrapped in a thermal blanket, but not so my feet. In fact, my toes hurt a lot, they freeze at minus 15 degrees Centigrade even with the 3 pairs of socks and the mega boots... It's cold, mum!

I have decided to join an "Aurora photo tour" because I guess that otherwise, I will not be able to take any pics of the show...😓 One must look in the North direction, and after some time waiting, one can see a kind of green curtain of light hanging behind the clouds... Pleiades can be seen wonderfully! Here comes the dream I have been chasing! "Aurora!" screams start to be heard aroun🤩🤩🤩

In the beginning, it changes just slowly, but step by step it comes to life... 👶🏼

On the other side of the sky, looking South, suddenly an unexpected greenish hue appears... Like if somebody had switched on a light there! You have to check all the sky above all the time if you do not want to miss a thing!!👀

The pink color of the cloud is the result of light pollution from the village I guess, because it is located on that side. But it is strange because the village is so small, and has almost no lights... I'll try to find out.

Patiently waiting for the cloud to leave... I also watch other areas of the sky but there is nothing else to see anywhere... for the moment😉

The brightness intensifies... My fingers and toes hurt terribly 🥶🥶🥶but I do not stop pressing the camera shooting button somehow... 🤖my fingers feel like a stone! They can not move 🐧but it is worth😄

Come on, slowly... 🧐

The action starts in slow motion... 😆

The photographer told me to stay quiet! But no way!😂

Normally it is difficult for me to pose forcing a smile... 🤣🤣

Sorry, no more looking at the camera while this show is behind me! 😛

After my turn in the photocall, I go back to my camera! From time to time some more intense bright spots appear, now it's not just to the North, but there is a kind of stripe that extends from North to South instead ☄🧭🧭

 Bonito... 🥰

Looking South opposite the initial greenish curtain 👉🏼 Still not very active in this area🤭

Here the pink color, caused by nitrogen, can be seen clearly, it appears suddenly at the edge of the green stripe and then disappears again... 🌫 In the beginning, this color fills up from one end towards the other, like in soft touches, or like if someone was blowing slowly from one end to the other of the stripe and with every blow, the green "smoke" fades away turning into pink...🌪 I know, this is impossible to get, but I swear I can not compare it to anything familiar, you must experience it!! 😍😍

Suddenly, a huge flash! 😍 😍
You look right above your head and see some kind of "hot gas" moving at incredible speeds, resembling the jet stream coming out of an airplane's turbine 🎆 and creating turbulence in the air...🎇 It's like if the wind suddenly turned visible, like if the air acquired a green color, it's sublime! 💚

The sky fills up with green light meandering around while changing in shape and color! 🌪 Screams😆, applause👏🏼, jumps🤸🏼 , eyes wide open😵, huge smiles😃, this is really otherworldly! 🤩

Sometimes a turning spiral is formed, sometimes it looks like someone spread sand on a glass and moved it by blowing🤪, the pink color comes and goes like in brush-strokes... children scream from fear, adults from joy! 👏 👏

And the night was not night anymore! 💚 💚

You must enjoy every second because the vertiginous explosion of colors last just a few minutes ⏳💚💙💜
🔥

...and more! My camera is almost burning! 📷

Aurora relaxes slowly... 🥱

...changes its shape... 🐍

... loses brightness...

... fades away...👻

... bye-bye, aurora... 😥😥

... see you next time...🙏 🙏

... I have to come back ... 📆

I feel lucky and I've fallen in love with this place 💞💘

I am absolutely sure that aurora is the best natural show on Earth, even better than an explosive volcanic eruption... I think that could not make me more enthusiastic than a "powerful" aurora 😊

After a great aurora night 🏆(the third one), I wake up at 5:45 to see the sunrise from my window but I can not help to get out for a last stroll of 5 km before leaving for the airport, cool!😀 :)

Fourth day in Lapland: nonstop exploring

Finally, I did see the aurora yesterday! I wake up today full of optimism and energy, I want to explore the land during the day 🤍and the sky at night💚

I am very happy after last night's aurora, but the train is still blocked and I can not go to see the fjords, so I keep exploring the natural park. The weather is better today!

Today my plan was to climb a small mountain nearby🏔, but there is so much snow that I can not walk that way, so I improvise and walk in the woods without any marked paths just using my GPS😎

Husky Sleigh...

The weather is still windy and from time to time it snows... I wish it will be clear tonight because the solar activity forecast is quite high 😃

We have a good forecast for auroras tonight, and also less cloudy weather, and we have also new moon, so I join a snowmobile trip. This way, in case there are clouds right above the lake, I will have an option to chase the auroras further away where the skies are clear😀

During the ride, there is an accident and two of the riders were stuck in the snow, so we waste a lot of time pulling them out, so we just saw a little bit of greenish sky. But when I arrive later in my room, I wait to warm myself up for half an hour, prepare some hot tea and head down to the lake to wait, and aurora came back!!

I can not describe what it felt like, I can just tell that I was alone at 4 o'clock in the morning, half-frozen🥶, but jumping, clapping hands, shouting, with my eyes fully open and my mouth as wide as the entrance to the underground 😃 I felt my face was even distorted😜 But unfortunately, no pics of the green lights... 😭
